Advisory on ICAO Compliant Photograph for Indian Passport Applicants

For the new chip-enabled Indian passport booklets, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)-compliant photographs are mandatory. In this regard, the following may be noted:
a. The background should be uniform, preferably white background. 
b. Approximately 85% of the photo should be covered by the applicant’s face.
c.  Pixel size should be 630x810.
d. The maximum file size of the photograph must not exceed 250 KB.
e. Applicants wearing turban must ensure that it is worn in a way that the maximum area of the forehead and face is visible and not covered by the turban.

 ICAO compliant photographs can be taken at any of the professional studios.  Most of these studios will have facilities to calibrate the picture as per ICAO guidelines.
