Dr. Adarsh Swaika
Dr. Adarsh Swaika holds a Ph.D Degree in Chemistry from Delhi University. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2002.
His overseas postings include assignments in Moscow (2004-2006), Sofia (2006-2009), China (2009-2012) and Bangladesh (2016-2019).
During his stint in New Delhi (2013-2015) as Director/ Deputy Secretary in the United Nations Economic & Social Division (UNES), he represented India in various UN/multilateral Conferences/negotiations and was part of the Indian negotiating team for Post 2015 Development Agenda / SDGs and the Paris Climate Change agreement.
In December 2015, he joined the High Commission of India in Bangladesh as Deputy High Commissioner and served till March, 2019.
Upon return to New Delhi in March 2019, he served as Director / Acting Head of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) Division. He assumed the office of Joint Secretary (CPV) supervising Consular, Passport and Visa matters in MEA in October, 2019. In August 2020, he was appointed as Joint Secretary (Eurasia) responsible for bilateral relations with Russia, Ukraine, Central Asia and countries in Caucasian region. He also served as Chief Vigilance Officer of the Ministry from February 2020 to November 2022.
Dr. Swaika is fluent in English and Hindi and can also speak Russian.
Dr. Swaika is married and has one son and one daughter.
